EMDR Consultation

Regular monthly consultation is an excellent way to get clinical support and benefit from case sharing with fellow EMDR clinicians. Consultation helps to develop skills and confidence.  Consultation provides therapists with the opportunity to ask questions, get help with challenging cases, clarify protocols and procedures, assist with case conceptualization, resource development and installation, and target sequencing.

Therapists who have completed an EMDRIA-approved training need a minimum of 20 additional hours of consultation from an EMDRIA-approved consultant as part of the Certification process.

Consultation hours can include 10 hours of group and minimum 10 hours of individual consultation.   For more information on Certification criteria go to www.emdria.org.

I ask consultees to include client history, case conceptualization and session process notes as well as any questions they might have when preparing cases to present.  This preparation helps consultees clarify their thinking and enables me to understand how best to advise them.

Prerequisites are completion of EMDR Basic Training, and having an active clinical caseload in which you are using OR are hoping to use EMDR Therapy. To learn more or if you have questions, contact us at dawn@dawnassociates.com

All consultations are presently being conducted via Zoom and therapists can join via phone or any device via Zoom video conferencing.

Most participants choose to sign up for 5 sessions at a time; however, there is sometimes room for drop-ins if the group is not full in a particular month.  Your spot is held for you, therefore I ask for 48 hour cancellation notice or you will be charged for the session.

Registered Social Workers and Psychotherapists

Regular monthly consultation is an excellent way to get clinical support, and benefit from case sharing with fellow clinicians. It also allows therapists to get help with business and administrative issues, ethical dilemmas and discuss best practices with their colleagues in a private and confidential forum.

Consultation provides therapists with the opportunity to ask questions, get help with challenging cases, clarify protocols and procedures, assist with case conceptualization, resource development and installation, and target sequencing.  Consultation helps to develop skills and confidence.

It is important to note that consultation is not ‘supervision’. Your clients remain your responsibility, and the decisions you make around treatment are yours alone. The consulting process is there to offer suggestions and focus on how to assist clients and build your practice most effectively.
