Why mindfulness? In our efforts to understand ourselves and the world around us, people are turning more and more to daily practices that help perpetuate kindness and compassion. Mindfulness, being aware of what is going on in our heads on a moment-to-moment basis helps us to learn to know ourselves better. These tools can help with symptoms of anxiety and depression and even help our relationships. Jon Kabat-Zinn and others have developed programs to deal with stress and trauma. They include meditation, yoga and practicing mindfulness.
