SasEMDR Approved Consultants-in-Training Group
This virtual consultation group is for Certified EMDR Therapists who wish to become EMDRIA Approved Consultants.
For direction on becoming an EMDRIA Approved Consultant, please see this link to the EMDRIA website https://www.emdria.org/page/51too.
Basically, at the end of our process, you are applying to become an EMDRIA Approved Consultant. The work we do is called “Consultation of Consultation” which means that I (the Approved Consultant, AC), provides consultation to you around consultation that you are providing to other EMDR Therapists.
As you can see from the FAQ, this means that you must have your own EMDR Therapists that are obtaining consultation from you, personally. I will send you documents that will help you to guide them and evaluate their efforts as an EMDR Therapist. We then look at your work as a consultant-in-training with them. We look at your questions, your consultations with other therapists and evaluate how things are going. Through this process, I help you with your skills of becoming an EMDRIA Approved Consultant.
The requirement is for 20 one-hour consultation sessions with an EMDRIA Approved Consultant or Consultants, and can be a mix of group and individual consultations.
*Group size is limited to 4.
My fee is normally $160 per hour plus HST and so if you are doing a group of 2, this would be split between the two therapists. If we have 3-4 participants, the time increases to a two-hour consultation. We will meet by video conference (Zoom) so that you do not have to leave the comfort of your home or office and can join via your phone, tablet or computer.
Prerequisites are completion of EMDR Basic Training, and having an active clinical caseload in which you are using OR are hoping to use EMDR Therapy.
If you are ready to move forward with this group, Contact Us so I can send you the necessary paperwork to get started. Let me know if you have any questions. Your spot is held for you, therefore I ask for 48 hour cancellation notice or you will be charged for the session.
EMDR Consultation Group
Regular monthly consultation is an excellent way to get clinical support and benefit from case sharing with fellow EMDR clinicians. Consultation helps to develop skills and confidence. Consultation provides therapists with the opportunity to ask questions, get help with challenging cases, clarify protocols and procedures, assist with case conceptualization, resource development and installation, and target sequencing.
Therapists who have completed an EMDRIA-approved training need a minimum of 20 additional hours of consultation from an EMDRIA-approved consultant as part of the Certification process.
Consultation hours can include 10 hours of group and minimum 10 hours of individual consultation. For more information on Certification criteria go to www.emdria.org.
I ask consultees to include client history, case conceptualization and session process notes as well as any questions they might have when preparing cases to present. This preparation helps consultees clarify their thinking and enables me to understand how best to advise them.
